How the light is meant to behave

On current Wolf dual-fuel ranges and E Series wall ovens the cavity light follows the door: on as it opens, off as it shuts, with the Light key to turn it on while the door is closed. On 48- and 60-inch dual-fuel ranges, and on E Series double ovens, each cavity has its own control, and only the oven you select lights up. On a dual-fuel range Clean switches the lights off for the whole cycle, and on both Sabbath mode changes how they respond.

Stuck on, or never on

A light that stays on with the door shut points first at the door: either it is not closing fully, or whatever senses it has stopped working. A light that never comes on starts with the bulb and its socket. Wolf’s current dual-fuel guide calls for a 40-watt halogen in the side wall; other series take other lamps, so match the old bulb or your guide. When a new bulb stays dark, Wolf’s list moves on to the supply, the relay or control board, a transformer and the motorised door latch assembly, and it notes that some ovens carry a light fuse reached only by taking the unit apart. That part is ours, with the oven off at its breaker.

Before you book

With the door shut, touch Light, watch the window, then touch it again. If the light follows the key, the bulb and wiring work and the fault is in how the door is read.

Close the door firmly and check nothing, such as a rack out of its slot, is holding it off the seal. The light is switched by the door, so one not quite shut keeps it on.

If your guide lists the side-wall bulb as an owner job, turn the breaker off and let the oven cool first, and hold the new bulb in a clean cloth; Wolf says skin oil shortens its life.

Can I change the ceiling bulb myself?

Wolf's guidance for current dual-fuel ranges and E Series ovens sends the ceiling bulb to a technician, while the side-wall bulb is an owner job with the power off and the oven cold.
