What each of those usually turns out to be
- Set to 375°F, thermometer on the rack says 320°F
- Before assuming a fault: an oven cycles around its setpoint, so a single reading proves little. A consistent 40–60°F shortfall across a long bake is real, and it is usually calibration drift, a tired sensor, or one of two elements no longer pulling its share.
- Preheat takes three times as long as it used to
- Classic signature of a failed bake element or an igniter that has weakened past the current draw needed to open the gas valve. Both are gradual failures, which is why it creeps up on you rather than breaking outright.
- Convection fan runs but food browns on one side
- Air is moving but not being heated evenly — often the convection element behind the baffle rather than the fan. Also check whether the door gasket has flattened on one side, which lets a steady draught in and skews the whole cavity.
- Display flashes a code and the oven will not start
- Codes are worth writing down exactly before you cut power, because a reset clears them. Most point at a sensor reading out of range or a latch that has not confirmed its position. Give us the code on the phone and we usually arrive with the part.
- Panel works intermittently, especially when hot
- Heat-related dropout normally means a connector or ribbon cable that has degraded where it passes near the cavity, or a board with failing solder joints. It gets worse, never better, so it is worth catching while the fault is still intermittent.
